3-334 FAMILY DAY

1318 Post and Auxiliary 1318 Members recently supported the 3rd Battalion, 334th Regiment Army Reserve Unit Family Day at Elvers Park in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday 13 July 2019. The 3-334th is a training unit and its missions is to support the U.S. Army providing cadre to train entry level soldiers. Most of the unit is Drill Sergeants and training support personnel. They are geographically dispersed throughout the Midwest with most of their units here in Wisconsin.

Post Members transported food items to the Park in the morning and set-up a serving area and barbecue grills and began grilling the food. Post members, auxiliary members and the 3-334th leadership personnel began serving the meal at 11:30 AM. We served approximately 120 family members and 80 military members. During this event there were displays from the Madison Police and Fire Department. The 3-334th also had, scavenger hunts, bean bag contest, raffles and a pie throw contest. The post and auxiliary also set-up an information booth complete with brochures that explained our organization and our programs to benefit veteran, active and reserve unit personnel. We spoke with the battalion chain of command and told them about the VFW and explained our Unmet Needs program and other VFW programs that active duty and reserve component members can benefit from. The unit thanked us for what they described as the best family day they ever had and honored the Post 1318 with a plague to express their gratitude. Great Job to all the post and auxiliary members that supported this great event!
